Gearing options
1 x 12 means you just have one chainring by the pedal arms and 12 cogs at the back of the bike. This gives you 12 wide-range gears, which is all most people need, with the added simplicity, lower weight, and better reliability as the system is more straightforward.
2 x 12 means you have two chainrings by the pedal arms and 12 cogs at the back of the bike. This effectively gives you 24 gears, providing extra range and smaller increments between each gear.

All of our bikes, parts and accessories can be returned within 30 days from the date of delivery for an exchange or refund. You can test ride the bike in this period, but it needs to be retuned in clean and sellable condition, in it's orginal packaging.

How easy or firm a gear is depends on the ratio of the teeth front to rear.
The lowest climbing gear is the same on both bikes (24 gear inches).
The 2x12 system has an approximately 10% firmer gear for sprinting or descending thanks to the much larger 48 tooth front chainring.

The Temple team were great dealing with my order, accelerating the build time and slight spec changes. Very friendly and efficient.
The bike came really well boxed with clear assembly instructions. It feels strong, responsive and pretty light to ride unloaded.
Five days into an off-road bike-packing trip in New Zealand, the bike is fantastic. Very stable descending rough, bumpy trails even fully loaded, gears smooth and responsive, though perhaps a bit more gear on the steep, single-track MTB ascents would be useful. Comfortably eats up the road miles and I’ve had lots of admiring comments. The bike loaded seems to need a c 70:30 weight split between back:front as it was unstable at c 60:40.
Overall, very pleased with it as a fun, dependable, off-road touring bike.

Absolutely love my adventure disc one. It’s comfortably the best bike I’ve ever owned, and likely to be the only bike I’ll ever need. Love how stylish and understated it looks whilst still absolutely delivering on all aspects of performance. I used to ride solely road, and this bike is well capable of that, but it’s opened up a whole new aspect of rides now being able to through in off road and gravel sections to my usual routes in and around Bristol. I’ve also loaded it up fully for multi day tours and quick overnight wild camps. It does everything. It’s just the perfect bike for me and the various kinds of riding I want to do. Well done temple and all the various partner suppliers the go into this build.

This bike is brilliant! Have cycled my dads gravel bike a lot but just wanted to have my own , especially one that was British made.
I live in the Bristol area and have a few short-ish routes so far but planning on doing routes in Dorset and Somerset over the coming summer, I have no doubt that this bike will handle it.
I did initially have an issue with the mud guard (my fault) the day after I bought, but the staff at temple were really helpful and fixed it as soon as I got there. Great bike, great customer service, would recommend 100% (Oh yeah and it is a beautiful bike!)
Been bike packing on a gravel bike for a few years now so decided to look around for something sturdy, stable and designed to eat up the miles across a range of terrains with plenty of pannier capacity for a future of longer touring.
Opted for the AD1 following some helpful discussions with Temple in Bristol and a couple of test rides of the AD1 and AD2. First European tour coming up in the summer but have already put on plenty of miles across a range of conditions in the West Country - on and off-road, flat and hilly, light and heavy loads, wet and dry.
Result - absolutely delighted. It’s a sure, even and responsive ride in any set of conditions and so far I’ve yet to struggle on hills that used to beat me. It’s quick and effortless on the flat too so all in I’m very pleased with this bike, very happy with the excellent customer service from the Bristol workshop folk and I’m looking forward to covering some serious mileage with it.
It helps that it’s a head turner too! My only sad comment is that I managed to scuff the paintwork on an off road section (suspect I had grit on my shoe and caught it on the frame) - heartbreaking to do that to a bike that’s so damn pretty to look at!
Easy to visit showroom in Bristol, go for test ride and discuss my requirements. Got a great deal on pre Xmas discount and bought through a cycle to work scheme.
Once voucher issued bike was ready in a few days.
Only disappointment was that seat post clamp not tightened when I collected bike so, it slipped down and scored it just after I set off from the showroom.
Temple tightened it on the spot and said they’d sort out the scoring on its 6 week check. Scoring not major but upset the look of brand new bike.
Bike ride is lovely. Comfortable and responsive. Look forward to more miles in saddle.
Searched for a while for a steel gravel. Have ridden carbon and aluminum but all the bikes I loved were made of steel. Just personal preference, beyond that I have been extremely happy with the Adv 1.
Big fan of the GRX, spacing between gears feels pretty good, and for a mix of on and off road feels perfect. Have had it about a month and feels like the bike I've been searching for.
Typically I go for 54cm, so I got the 55 and feels like a good fit. Reach is a little long for me but overall I wouldn't change for a different size.
TLDR: Feels like the bike I've been searching for. Dream bike.

I recently completed a gravel ride on the Temple Cycles Adventure Disc 1, and I’m thoroughly impressed with its performance. This bike embodies everything one could want from a gravel bike, offering a smooth yet responsive ride.

Having been an avid cyclist in my youth, starting as a kid on road bikes and then later on I got heavily into cross country mountain biking, but after a 20+ year gap I decided to return to cycling. I decided that a Gravel bike would suit my needs and spent quite some time looking at different makes and models, but nothing really excited me, I’m quite fussy about how a bike should look, and almost all the bikes I looked at had frame geometry which I disliked. Whist searching on the internet, I came across Temple Cycles and I saw their range of Adventure Disc Gravel bikes, and I knew straight away that I had found the right bike for me.
The traditional frame geometry styling combined with high quality modern components was just what I wanted so after much pondering over which colour/gearing/size etc I ordered a 11spd Adventure Disc 1 in Lichen green.
After a couple of weeks my bike arrived and I immediately knew I had made the right choice, it’s a beautiful machine and I couldn’t be happier with it or the service and communication I received from Temple cycles.
I’m slowly building up my fitness again, so only fairy short rides so far, but I absolutely love this bike.

I've only had my adventure disk 1 two weeks so a little early for a full review but so far I think it's fantastic! Robust steel frame, top level groupset, great components. The ride is the thing I am so enjoying. It feels fast, lively and very responsive without being twitchy, it is very stable and composed but not in the least boring! It goes where I point it on fast, twisty, difficult terrain. I keep thinking of routes I can do so I can get out on it. I have a hand built Reynolds 531 touring bike which I have had for 38 years but the adventure disk feels very different - more lively and raring to go. I would have liked a lower bottom gear for steeper terrain and wouldn't like to go touring in the Scottish Highlands fully laden with this, but then that's what my old touring bike is for!

Took this bike for a 50k spin covering all terrains from cycle track tarmac, through country fields to off road mud and dirt trails. Totally brilliant bike, so light and responsive. Gear set was accurate and versatile and the brakes were positive and efficient on any surface. Thoroughly recommend this bike😁
Stopped to talk to a Temple owner whilst on a ride and loved the clean retro look of the frame. I think they are a relatively rare sight where I live in Scotland. Managed to bag my own Adventure Disc 1 in February. Have only been out a couple of times so far but I’m loving the feel of the bike, the frame and wheels iron out the lumps and bumps on the b roads and tracks and the bike is surprisingly rapid too. Looking forward to many more rides.
I came across Temple cycles whilst walking around on one of my frequent visits to London. I thought the bikes were very elegant and looked well constructed. A few years in my son needed a bike so that was my perfect excuse to give him my almost 30 year old Scott Atacama hybrid and buy myself a new bike. So I had a test ride on an adventure disc and was smitten, subsequently ordering one for delivery to my house in York. All has gone well and I love my new bike!

Bought rhe Adv Disc 1 in Autumn 2023 - now spend more time on it than my trusty Cyclocross bike! Handling feels planted but nimble and the Panaracer tyres are a great complement.

Spent a year deciding what bike to get, I knew I wanted a UK brand and steel was my preference. The Autumn sale discount on the Adventure Disc 1 was too good to miss so I bought a large framed model in ‘sand’. It looks beautiful…there are plenty of bikes that look fast and (modern) slick…this is quality, classic and sharp. I only wanted one bike to ride and this is it👍

Envy of the Ozarks
A couple of years ago I moved from the UK to Northwest Arkansas, where I discovered a love of cycling in a community full of serious cyclists. I was previously riding a 2010 alloy road bike, which I took on many uncomfortable century rides in Arkansas midsummer heat, but I was excited to get something that could handle some loaded touring and some gravel. I ride a lot, but I’m a poor student and am new to all things cycling.
The Adventure Disc 1 is the most expensive thing I’ve ever bought (never even owned a car), and it felt like a hugely luxurious purchase. I wasn’t really sure what the difference would exactly feel like between the two bikes, and was tentative about the whole process. I definitely spent more than I had to - I could’ve opted for a local all-city, surly or salsa, with fewer import fees etc.
But I can say with complete confidence this bike was worth every penny. There are the practical reasons - it handles great, shifts perfectly, stops well, feels indestructible and so comfortable. On top of that it just looks so damn good. I look forward to getting on it every single day, which means I ride every single day. And that’s vital, especially for my mental health.
The team were communicative, and I had the bike assembled from the box in under half an hour. Flawless service.
Can’t wait to take it on a trip next summer from here to Boulder, CO.

Very good, I had good communication from Temple, to be honest I thought the delivery window could have been AM or PM not all day. However I did speak to the courier and he did make me aware that Temple are addressing this issue, so not marked down, the bike is definitely 5 star.
A truly amazing machine
A great process from start to finish with excellent service from Temple Cycles. Receiving the bike was easy and I simply had to attach the front wheel and pedals (as is the case with all other bikes I’ve purchased online). The build quality and finish are the best I’ve ever seen from any bike maker EVER! That leads me onto the ride… boy this thing is a dream. It gives me so much confidence, feels so solid and is really well designed. It can handle everything and stays very stable on the rougher gravel trails where I live. Overall spec is very competitive and the bike is full of neat touches and nice looking details. If you’re a bike lover, I cannot recommend this awesome bike enough. Hands down, one of the best bikes I now own.

These bikes are built to last.
My only qualm is the cotton tape at the ends of the handlebar tape - it comes loose easily. Not a deal-breaker though, the bike is otherwise incredible.
Awesome bike, clean design, top spec
Love this bike and all the parts Temple have specced on it. Love the hunt wheels, loving the tubeless and loving the GRX. Taking this beauty bike packing all summer and it’s going to shred. I had to wait around just over a week for mine from ordering which is insane considering the world right now. Bang on.
Great specs, great ride, exceptional bike
After a fair bit of research it came down to this. I’m so happy with my adventure disc 1, and to be honest, with the component spec, frame material and overall build quality and finish, it’s a steal at this price. I was luckily informed that my XL size would be made early and received the bike sooner than expected. Top service and communication from the team. I could not recommend this bike highly enough. Forgot to mention, it also rides a dream.

I can’t believe how much joy this bike gives me. It’s fast become my favourite bike of choice. I used to not give steel a second look, but now… oh boy. I use it for just about everything the Quantock Hills can throw at it, and have taken it on 2 bike packing expeditions so far. I’m happy to say it hasn’t disappointed.

Most beautiful and best bike
I liked the Temple Cycles philosophy and was impressed by the beauty of the bikes. But since my Adventure Disc arrived I know that this is a fantastic bike, technically state of the art and pure fun to ride.
Dream Bike
Absolutely beautiful steed. I got mine in Lichen Green and it looks stunning. The bike is lightweight and very zippy on the roads. Components are top notch, gear changing is so smooth and I couldn't ask for a better ride for my daily commutes and my weekend adventures off the beaten path. Delivery of the bike even came 3 weeks earlier than expected. Had a slight issue with the front wheel, as it wasn't seated properly and losing pressure, however took it to the Brick Lane store and they sorted it promptly. Hats off to Matt and the team!
Wonderful frameset
I bought the Adventure Disc MK2 frameset in Large (=57) which fits my 182 cm perfect. Medium would probably have worked as well. It came with headset, spacers and thru-axles mounted. Since then I’ve built it up with the Ultegra r8000 hydraulic groupset and decent wheels and tires.
It feels really quick and responsive on gravel roads! The frameset, hydraulic brakes and 37mm Riddler makes it really confident and therefore fun and quick. And it looks great in Peat grey.
I love that its made of a good steel quality, have all the mounts I will need, have flat mounts for the brakes, thru axles, and especially the best looking fork of all the off the peg framesets I’ve seen on the internet!
I will love using it as a gravel bike, touring bike, commuting with fenders and front rack, and as a winter training bike.
